Prayer & Praise
There is no better way to start the year off than humbly coming before God. We’re excited that you’re taking this opportunity to come together as family and friends (or by yourself is great, too) and engage with God. During this time, we are going to worship Him and connect with Him together through prayer. At least half of this time is going to be spent in worship through singing – so, take a moment to check out the song list we’ve prepared on Spotify (if you don’t have or are not familiar with Spotify, go to the music platform with which you are most comfortable) and please join us in worshipping through the songs in the order below.
We know this is a atypical way of doing Prayer & Praise but we know it will be intimate and
meaningful both to you and to God! So, don’t feel awkward sitting in silence or singing out loud to a video. Just let yourself be fully immersed in the presence of God, seeking His presence and singing with a joyful heart as loud as you can!
Now, to get us in the right frame of mind, start by reading Psalm 100 slowly and then take the
time to be silent before Him – focusing your mind and your heart on being present with Him.
1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Spend time reflecting on those words and on God.
Engage with this song and proclaim God's glory.
1000 Tongues - Vertical Worship
Now, spend some time meditating on the things you have to be thankful for – reflect on the last year and ponder the things for which you need give God, don’t worry if it takes a minute, they’re there, you just need to remember them.
Now, pray prayers of thanksgiving, thanking God in specifics for all of things which you just thought…
Take a moment to consider this scripture:
Psalm 139: 1 – 18
1 You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.
2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.
4 Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.
5 You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
7 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?
8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,”
12 even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.
13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
17 How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!
18 Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you.
What verses in that passage really resonated with you?
Think about the coming year – and ask God to give you peace in the unknown and to give you courage to move forward knowing He is with you.
Ephesians 6:18 "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people."
Way Maker - Leeland
Over the next few minutes pray for the needs of people you know who need your prayers – physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs. Take these people and their burdens to the Lord, pray for them by name.
Now, close your time by going before God and praising Him for His faithfulness throughout the previous year, for being with you and for you.
Praise the Lord for His faithfulness and how that has brought about all that you are thankful for.
Yes I Will - Vertical Worship
Close the time by having one person repeat the blessing of Numbers 6:24 – 26
24 ‘“The Lord bless you
and keep you;
25 the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
26 the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace.”’
Have a blessed week!
